Nashville, Tennessee-based abstract artist Martica Griffin uses energetic lines, organic structures, geometric forms and sensual colors to create her works. Her paintings are inspired by her surroundings with a big dose of music in the mix. The foundation of each work is intuitive line overlaid with a color grid. Layer upon layer, the pieces are scraped, drawn over, and repainted in search of the unpredictable, the awkward and the beautiful.A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Griffin graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. She has done post-graduate work at the School for Visual Arts in New York and studied with internationally acclaimed painters. Her work resides in various public and private collections.
