By building up and deconstructing dozens of layers of paint, Michael Dickey explores and abstracts the traditional landscape. Combining elements of matte and gloss, of transparent and opaque, he creates a composition of both literal and suggested depth. Though not strictly landscapes, his work does evoke natural elements through the use of color and form. Born in Colorado, Dickey studied painting at Colorado State University. His works have been shown in Colorado, New York, California, and Montana. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
