Kathleen Deep moved to Connecticut to pursue a Masters in Fine Art. When living in Connecticut, she spent season after season wading alone in wetlands, flooded fields and marshes, sometimes as much as waist high in water. The imagery she creates is based on her memory of these places. She currently lives and work in Raleigh NC as a gallery manager and curator. “I look far back to the roots of photography when the camera was a drawing aid and images were not yet fixed and permanent; forming and dissolving in tandem. Influenced by my background in historical image making processes, my work is inspired by analog aesthetics and processes. Using mixed media, raw dried material and unconventional materials, I create works from memory inspired by the places I wander and wade in."
