I am a mixed media artist living in rural Massachusetts. I have loved anything to do with collage since childhood. Back then, it was on paper bags, using magazine cut outs with a flour and water paste mix in hand. I’m still doing this, albeit in a more sophisticated way through fine art. In 2011 I was introduced to art therapy to help me with my continual struggle with Complex, Developmental PTSD. It was immediately medicinal, addictive, and powerful. Since then, I have endlessly devoted myself to classes, books, and daily practice. I am a bit of an accidental artist just trying to get through life. The actuality that my art is valued and appreciated is a boon and something I am grateful for. My work now has spread internationally, landed on covers of magazines, and I even started teaching art online to people like me; survivors and over-comers. My process is filled with generous texture, using Venetian plaster and acrylic mediums. I strive to create many layers with acrylic paints, glazes, imagery, hand screened papers, inks, pastels, and anything else I can get my hands on. I write thoughts, poems, and lyrics in most backgrounds that are sometimes legible or you get a glimpse of through the layers. Creating abstracted background effects to achieve a cohesive final experience is a joy. I am a light chaser in life and in my art. There is always beauty to be found here, and my faith in God helps me in all that I do. My work is story telling at its core. Inspired by daily life, and an awareness of mind, body and soul.
