Marilynn Jennings lived her early years in Scottsdale, Arizona. She later moved to the Sierra foothills of Northern California where she completed a Master’s Program in Psychology and opened a private practice as a licensed psychotherapist. Many of her mentors in the world of Jungian psychology, myth, and dreamwork have influenced the direction of her art. Jennings has been represented in galleries throughout the Southwest and has participated in National and International juried exhibitions. She recently moved to the high desert of Santa Fe where her home sits on 2+ acres of expansive mountain vistas which inspires her art. She has been a professional artist for over 30 years and is a member of the New Mexico Women in the Arts. Creativity has been a continuous thread throughout her life and has taken many forms. It has been a way to create beauty in her surroundings that reflects her contemplative lifestyle and a means to express herself in the arts. Her focus as an abstract artist is the exploration of the mysterious and complex aspects of both the personal and collective unconscious. She is interested in the relationships between shapes, universal symbols and archetypal motifs that form a visual poetry. She enjoys exploring the unknown and the decision making process of bringing each piece to its resolution. Each painting invites the viewer to discover their own feelings, stories, and memories.
