Engaging the senses in a balanced yet all-consuming fashion, Leslie Wilson creates a culmination of color, texture, and pattern in her compositions. At first glance, warm pops of color rhythmically punctuate her bold and detailed designs. Upon closer look, a shimmer of thread reveals her instinctual tracing of the translucent, organic shapes that lay beneath. Wilson’s work begins with color and meticulous planning. Taking inspiration from current interior design trends, she consults with color schemes and fabric swatches to select the color palette that will ground her work. Developed in layers, with silkscreen printing on raw linen and needle and thread as her paintbrush, embellishments of metallic, cotton, and silk threads course through her work, creating a deep, tactile pattern. As a final layer, oil pastel tops her works, completing an intricate visual experience.Leslie Wilson earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. Her work has been exhibited throughout Georgia as well as in several interior design publications including Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and House Beautiful.
