Kim Amell is a contemporary encaustic & oil painter based inBanner Elk, NC.Her work explores the allure of nature and the power and strength itholds in the world. Kim finds her art inspiration in the textures andever-changing moods that nature offers. Kim is moved to createethereal works that evoke a sense of mysticism and wonder that youare drawn into. Working on mainly large-scale wood panels, Kimcaptures her interpretation of a unique moment in time and hopes toconnect the viewer and immerse them in a dynamic experiencebeyond the painting itself.A key part of Kim’s process is to connect to a feeling or emotionwhen creating her paintings. This emotion is an integral part of herprocess. The physical movement of layering warm wax, heating itwith a blow torch, and scrapping the surface to reveal multiplesurface layers is in many ways a meditative process for her.Kim has received most of her training by experimenting andexploring various art mediums all her life. Being curious aboutnature and being a constant observer of life continues to bring visionto her work.
