American craftsman Robert Troup is interested in designing and building furniture and other things uniquely blending form and function. These have ranged from dining tables and chairs, buffets, fly-fishing landing nets, and sofas to custom tools, a bumper for a Jeep and a wood fired pizza oven utilizing bricks from the 1850s. “I especially like mixing wood and metal in my furniture. Wood gives a piece warmth while metal can add sculptural details and unexpected visual interest,” Troup says. Robert is an avid consumer of ideas both written and visual and lists the work of Hank Gilpin, Albert Paley, David Savage and Garret Hack as influences.
