Kevin Gillentine is a master of the atmospheric landscape, created from subtle tonal gradations and a limited range of colors. In all his paintings, lighting effects create a mood of tranquility and beauty. Sometimes referred to by the historical term "tonalism," his style conveys a quality of hushed contemplation. Kevin Gillentine began painting at the age of fourteen. After graduating with a master's degree from Memphis State University, he relocated to New York City where he worked for seven years as an artist, principally for Broadway theaters and film. He also furthered his education, by attending New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Kevin lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he settled in the mid-1990s. His landscapes have found an international audience, which includes numerous celebrities and major interior design firms. His work often appears in national publications and can be seen in corporate and private collections throughout the country.
