The idiosyncrasies of nature inspire Melanie Warsinske. The contradiction and contrast of the environment — power and peace, drama and serenity, motion and calm — are internalized then expressed visually onto her canvasses in mesmerizing abstract expressionism. Using the canvas as her map, Melanie’s memories of travel and experience unfold. Seemingly dichotomous media express these ‘impressions on her soul.’ Blending oil paint or sticks over large areas, the contrast develops with palette knife accents and added textures, even found objects. She strives to perfect the use of light and space within her paintings, whether human figure, horse abstraction, or her interpretation of the vastness and temperament of sky, land and water.
