Using symbols, metaphors and family photographs, Tony Tiger explores his world of tribal pride and powerful Christian belief. The highly prized painter, printmaker and mixed media artist is also a gifted curator who shares his knowledge and talent broadly in Indian Country and beyond. Born in Los Angeles, the painter went to Seminole State College in Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University for his B.F.A. and University of Oklahoma for his M.F.A. and later became the director of the art department at Bacone College on Muscogee Creek Nation Land. Tiger shows his work all over the country, from Pow Wows to leading galleries and museums. Among his most recent exhibitions: Sarasota’s Ringling Museum and New York’s Museum of Art and Design.
