Growing up in Winston Salem, Mary spent endless afternoons at the kitchen table, painting with her sister. This practice sparked a passion for creativity that she pursued while studying at Clemson University. Now, she calls Charlotte, NC home, where she paints from her studio in her 1934 bungalow. She draws inspiration from the lush landscapes and verdant gardens within and around North Carolina. Her intention is to bring the joy of spending time outdoors into people's homes through her artwork. From the majestic mountains to the delicate petals of a flower, she is constantly awed by the beauty and power of creation. Each painting she creates is a celebration of that wonder, offering a moment of respite from the troubles of everyday life. Her unique artistic style blends contemporary impressionism with stained glass-inspired abstract shapes. She achieves this by layering oil paint over a wash of acrylic, allowing the underpainting to peek through. She uses bold lines and dynamic movements throughout each piece, piecing together a mosaic of color that unifies the composition. Her ultimate goal is to create art that speaks to the soul and evokes a sense of peace and joy in the viewer. By sharing her love of nature through her paintings, she hopes to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the world around them and find their own moments of solace amidst the chaos of modern life.
