Retired pulmonologist, James Pohl, was encouraged by his wife to pursue a hobby after closing his decades-long medical practice. He took up sketching and pastel drawing and soon realized becoming a good artist would require a path similar to that of his former career — lots of training and instruction. With many courses under his belt, he considers himself greatly improved and continuously improving. His work presents a delightful interpretation of quiet landscapes and cherished animals that a more practiced hand might take for granted. The intimate observations of nature and radiant color palettes are refreshing and honest.
