My art studio is nestled on the terrace level of my mid-century modern house built in 1955.Painting takes me to magical places, usually conjuring a story. I revel in the mystery that exists in the wild nature around me, and the animals in my paintings evoke wonder and curiosity. Their soulful gazes are meant to create connection and encourage us to see beyond the physical. The paintings have abstract beginnings, sometimes with a loose charcoal drawing or translucent layers of acrylic or watercolor. I embrace freedom and spontaneity along with thoughtful intention in my painting practice.I'm drawn to the creatures of the forest, and I paint them in ethereal settings that glow and have a sense of expansiveness. My animal collections consist of studying their vulnerability and our energy connections to living together on this earth. No matter what the subject, I like to take on the narrative, sometimes conjuring a bit of nostalgia, and always sprinkled with a bit of magic."
