Diane takes her oil painting into the third dimension. She creates Bi-Fold and Tri-fold, freestanding panels that allow you to wrap yourself inside the painting. Some pieces create panoramic views of fields or ponds, “I try to communicate what I see in nature…” Moving into pure abstraction, allows her to create from “within herself”, painting intensely personal reactions to her environment. With as many as six canvases to a piece, painting on both sides - Diane has created a painterly environment of profound scale which envelops the viewer. “Impressionism comes naturally to me, up close the canvas is an abstract design rich with texture and color. I try to communicate my reaction to the subject: capturing the light, colors, and mood. I lose myself in the myriad of shapes, colors and light. These elements are the building blocks of my craft. Weaving them together in a tapestry I try to convey my emotional reaction to a subject or idea. Up close my paintings are abstract shapes and rhythmic brush and knife strokes. Viewed from a distance some works retain their abstractness while others become more realistic.”
