Madison, WI Working in clay has allowed me to create my own little colorful microcosm. Each piece I make starts out as a strong individual, with texture, color and layering. The pieces are never meant to exist alone but instead to be part of a bigger community. They form relationships once together. Sometimes they fight, which can be interesting, and sometimes--a lot of the time--they play nice and work together harmoniously. My work is always changing and growing. I am constantly inspired by the things around me: my children; my garden; walks through the woods. This is the way I am able to stay engaged and energized to keep creating new and different work.
