Born in New Orleans, Redwine gained a full scholarship at Ole Miss, where she earned an undergraduate degree in English. After graduation from Ole Miss, Redwine moved to Atlanta to work for about a year with a boutique catalogue called “Puer to Banus.” She returned to New Orleans to set up a Magazine Street studio, work on her art, produce a presentable portfolio, and apply for graduate school in the visual arts. In all, Redwine spent about a year preparing herself for graduate school. She came to the University of South Carolina for a three–year program in pursuit of a master of fine arts degree (MFA), the terminal degree in studio art. Artist Statement: I draw life. I define my creative action as drawing, whether I'm using a paintbrush, charcoal, or my fingers. In my work the word 'draw' means not only to place marks on a surface but also to extract, like to draw a breath or to draw a conclusion. My work is informed by empathy and the experience of life: mine and that of plants, animals, and other people. https://www.thecolumbiastar.com/articles/anna-redwine-art-and-the-walker-institute/ https://www.annaredwine.com/arwbioetc_working.html
