William was born in Chicago March 13th, 1952. He started working in ceramics and oil painting during elementary school and attended the Junior School at The Art Institute of Chicago through High School. In the late 1960’s he was involved in the underground comic movement. His work was included in comic books which had national distribution. His work is influenced by comics and circus sideshows. In 1970, William was accepted into the B.F.A. program at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and completed his M.F.A. in sculpture in 1979. He taught painting, mixed media and illustration, 1976 – 1979, Columbia College Chicago. During the 1970’s his work was included in numerous exhibits. William and his wife, Michelle founded Broken Art Restoration Inc., a studio specializing in the restoration of sculptural objects, pottery and porcelain.
