While Kevin Ochieng Onyango chooses not to be an art activist, his works have a tendency to voice out against the entrenched societal practices. A contemporary photographer in Nairobi Kenya, Onyango uses photography and art as a tool to express his interest airing out issues going on around the world from racism, child labor, corruption and everything good and affecting humanity. He sees photography as a tool for social advocacy and cohesion and believes that media plays a big part in influencing the perception of people in certain issues creating a clear path on where they lie on this issues. He also use photography to shed some light on injustices through journalism and conceptual reveals of situations around the world and most importantly sharing positive and educational knowledge of conservation, unity, diversity and equality highlighting the importance of these key areas for the growth and development of humanity. Onyango is an award winning photographer recently awarded for his project on environmental conservation titled "the last breath".He is a proud recipient of awards including Shining a light photo contest (2021) by Mohammed Ali Centre; Environmental photographer of the year climate action award Winner (2021) by CIWEM AND NIKON EUROPE; AGORA images generations (2021); AGORA images Music (2020); ONUART Foundation one humanity photography award (2020) and Chinese-kenya embassy photography (2019). Other popular art events that Onyango has been a part of include United nations 75 exhibition in Paris, New York and Vietnam.
