"My work is an act of storytelling, a gesture of intimacy, a psychological disrobing, an imaginary conversation. The threads that weave my work together are beauty, fantasy, curiosity, and imagination. When I begin making a piece, I have no idea where it will lead. The task is to keep my ego quiet, my mind clear and my heart open, in a process of exploration, experimentation, and letting go. I discover tools for problem-solving in the quiet, jigsaws for my mind, an agility course for my brain, little grey cells lighting up like a carousel. When successful, I create a place where you can lose yourself for a while, tuck the troubles of the world away and just dream. Art making is a collaboration; I am here to show you the beginning of the story, I invite you to create the ending." ABOUTEve Ozer entered this world in a rebellious state of mind. She was born in 1951 in Wiesbaden, Germany. When she was four, her mother married an American soldier and they immigrated to the United States when she was nine. Scraps of paper and pencils were her first tools. Through independent study and workshops, Eve found her niche in collage, mixed media, and painting. After years in the corporate world, Eve now devotes her days to her studio in the Chicago area. Eve Ozer’s work is in private collections throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. And part of the permanent collection of the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Chicago, IL. She has received numerous awards including Best Of Show and First Place.
