Artist Statement: The paradox of life is much the same as the paradox of ceramics; the clay has a mind of its own and my goal is to collaborate with it, to express one moment. Art has had a formative role in shaping the direction of my life. Coming from a family of professional artists forced me to be aware the connection between art and life from an early age. The moment I began my exploration of ceramics, was the moment the connection between life and art became more exciting for me. I am obsessive over any work I create. In 2008 when I took my first ceramics class I found myself spending most of my time in the ceramic studio. In my mind, I am looking for questions and answers. I have an idea to create a piece; I create and create it over again, and again; knowing that, although they come from the same idea, the next one will not be the same. My favorite material to use is clay. Working with the earth creates endless ways to express myself, through ceramics. I enjoy working with clay because It also creates a feeling of partnership with the earth. As I move forward in my life, my hope is to always be inspired and feel free to express what is before me. My ceramic work is defined by figurative, feelings, and personality. My work comes from my subconscious, escaping, and creates completeness in my life.
