In the beginning my art work was primarily mixed media sculpture and drawings. It was based on nature and it's relationship to the female body. After living in Canada for 8 years, I returned to the US in 2001 and began painting. My work continues to be founded in nature. It's a series of contemporary botanical and landscape paintings in both oil and mixed media. The paintings are richly layered and show the history of the painting. As a process painter, I'm interested in the evolution of the painting and the direction it takes as I am working on it. I started with preliminary idea and let it go from there. I try to project a sense of beauty, but with a force of energy and vitality. I like to expose the physicality of the paint and the application. I want to give the viewer a reason to pause for reflection and time to study my work. My work has been exhibited in galleries in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, and Toronto. I graduated in 1969 from Florida Southern College with a BS in Industrial Arts. I later attended Corcoran School of Art and in 1991 received a Masters of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art. I currently have a studio in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Maine, where I spend the summers.
