Emma Ballou is an abstract and impressionist painter working in Pepperell Mills, a beautifully renovated historic textile factory, in Biddeford, Maine. She was inspired by her natural surroundings growing up among the dense pine forests, the sprawling fields, and the coastal towns in Southern Maine that seeped into her soul. Artist Statement: I was lucky enough to find the space and opportunity to grow my art career while living on the East End of Long Island and now I am so excited to be back living and creating in Maine surrounded by my family and the landscape that I love. My artistic practice is a response to the colors, energies, textures, and composition of my life. Every day I am working on creating an internal and external world that speaks to all the various aspects of my life that I cherish, art, family, love, creative freedom, and growth. My ultimate goal is to, through my artwork, create a connection to my viewers that moves them in some way through what I am called to create.
