At first glance, one might categorize the art of Alice Williams as post- impressionist, but it would be unfair to confine her career to one genre. True, she is interested in color and light as Bonnard and Villard were, but in addition, she is just as fascinated by good composition and canvas narrative. Her paintings show the influence of having grown up surrounded by fine art. Living and painting in Europe for five years, she had the opportunity to study the masters as she frequented museums, especially the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay, which were within walking distance of her Paris home. She spent years studying under such well-known painters as Chatov, Shank, Kintsler and portraitist Green. A prolific painter, her brushstrokes denote the bravado of a master and her experience shows. Her remarkable versatility of subject matter, her use of dynamic color and the beautiful effect of chiaroscuro present in her paintings are just a few of the many qualities that make her easily one of the most recognizable and sought after painters in America today.
