Written by the artist: “When I was eight years old, I wrote in a school journal that I wanted to become an artist and haven’t let go of that dream since. The pursuit to find my true path in art wasn't a straight one, but I found my passion in printmaking when introduced to linoleum relief in college. In 2013, I received my BFA with a focus in Printmaking from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. With the money raised from my senior undergraduate show, I decided to go all in and purchase an etching press. I took a year off of school and worked part time in my studio making and selling work with a part time job on the side. I still had the appetite to learn more, so I applied to graduate schools, and in May of 2017, I received my MFA from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There, I had an assistantship in Printmaking where I taught 2D Design and Intro to Printmaking. Though I enjoyed the time teaching, I've always had a business mind set coming from a family of entrepreneurs. So, in 2020 I finally established Press Relief Prints as a business and went full time. My designs are inspired by a gumbo of things: Being from Louisiana, you will see some of my culture’s flare, my love for pattern making, as well as continued thesis study of individual representation through collected materials.”
