In his new series titled "Spacescapes" Christopher Owen Nelson explores in a brand new technique, creating abstract landscapes of unique, bold colorways in his signature reverse-painted acrylic presentation. Using water-based acrylics in fluorescent and metallic pigments, gestural brushstrokes juxtapose airbrush finishes give this work a touch of realism as well as a window into the artist process. Some works contain an interference effect where colors change completely--all based on the viewer location and the light in the room. These abstract landscapes and cloudscapes interplay to evoke otherworldly compositions and unseen horizons; like watching the sunset from one of Jupiter's moons.
