Looking for the eternal in the ephemeral, Landon photographs fine art projects and while he works for commercial and editorial clients around the world he considers himself a photojournalist rather than fashion photographer. Though his photographs often appear staged, Nordeman pulls back the curtains and gives viewers a look into the backstage scene at high-profile fashion shows where his subjects are shown in candid moments that are also surreal and even surprising. Nordeman began his career in photography at the University of Virginia. He took staff positions at the Daily Progress and Virginian-Pilot while an undergraduate student and later went on to study photojournalism at the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University, where he earned his master’s degree in 2002. It was there that he was selected out of hundreds of applicants to intern at National Geographic. From that point on, Nordeman’s career skyrocketed. His first monograph, Out of Fashion, was published by Damiani in October (2016) and was named one of the best Photo Books of 2016 by TIME. He has received praise from American Photography, Communication Arts, Pictures of the Year International, The PDN Photo Annual, The Center for Documentary Studies, PDN's 30, and The Society for Publication Design. Nordeman’s photographs have also been exhibited at The Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York and The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing among other venues, and are in the collections of The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and The Columbus Museum of Art.
