California-based artist Peter Alexander (born 1939 in Los Angeles) was among the earliest protagonists of the "Light and Space Movement," which includes such other noted artists as James Turrell and Robert Irwin. Since 1967, Peter Alexander been exhibited internationally in over 70 solo exhibitions and more than 200 group exhibitions. Most recently, his work was featured in the critically acclaimed traveling museum exhibition, "Pacific Standard Time: Crosscurrents in L.A. Painting and Sculpture 1950-1970," which debuted at the J.Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Peter Alexander's work has been the subject of retrospectives at the Orange County Museum of Art, CA; the Los Angeles Institute for Contemporary Art; and the Laguna Art Museum, CA, among others. He is featured in the permanent collections of over 50 significant institutions world-wide, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Guggenheim Museum (New York), the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
