Jennifer Rivera is an abstract expressionist painter who works primarily with acrylics on canvas. Having been raised on the east coast of the United States, Jennifer was exposed to a culture rich in the arts at an early age. From dancing at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City as a child, to participating in advanced placement art classes as a teen, the arts were always a part of her world. Jennifer has traveled the United States extensively and has lived in many urban cities across the country. These travels have not only influenced her life, but her work as well. Jennifer was listed twice in KC Magazine in the top 5 category for "City's Best Visual Artist". Her work can be seen in exhibitions across the Kansas City area and many pieces reside in private collections in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Scottsdale, Denver, Kansas City, Virginia, Boca Raton, and New York City. “The creation of my work is unpredictable and that is the very thing that I find exciting about it. I am inspired by life events and I express the feelings that those events conjure through texture and color. Once I introduce the paint to the canvas, a dialogue between them begins. I become the conduit between the brush and the canvas. In the end, the finished piece tells a story unique to each viewer. To me, the marriage between the artist’s freedom of expression and the viewer’s freedom of interpretation is the fundamental beauty of abstract art and where inspiration can be found.” -- jennifer rivera
