Luc Leestemaker Luc Leestemaker grew up in the Netherlands where interests in the arts, theatre and communications led him through a series of diverse professions. It would be Leestemaker's family lineage of painters and his long-standing interest in painting that would ultimately command his devotion. Upon moving to the United States in 1990, the artist made a full commitment to painting. Not unlike other European and Dutch artists, living and working in the United States created dramatic transitions in his artistic style. Leestemaker's stylistic journey would take him from early inspiration by the Cobra movement, through Abstract Expressionist compositions. Like a new dawn breaking after a storm, an emergence from personal crises led to the current Inner Landscape and Transfigurations series. Loosely inspired by Mark Rothko and 17th Century Dutch landscape painters, Leestemaker’s current body of work draws on the natural light of his homeland and a newly discovered inner peace. Luc Leestemaker has been honored with one-man exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world, including a retrospective of the Artist’s work spanning the years 1990 to the present at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Leestemaker’s work has been featured in several Hollywood blockbuster movies and recently, award winning British film director Terrence Gross released “Leestemaker: Portrait of an Artist”, a documentary film on the life and work of the artist. 600 Fifth Avenue South, Naples, FL 34201 914 East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 954-524-2100 239-435-4515 www.newriverfineart.com Luc Leestemaker grew up in the Netherlands where interests in the arts, theatre and communications led him through a series of diverse professions.
