1962 - "Art is a dialogue, creates a platform for communication and inspiration. “ Works by German mixed media artist Sabine Campana are a homage to the third dimension. Her pieces come alive in the space between paintings and sculptures. They can be easily identified by interesting structures, mysterious textures, and surprising surfaces. Sabine is inspired by the vast variety of designs, created by nature, architectural elements, educational journeys and cross-cultural experiences in Europe, Asia, America, and North Africa. “Hanging sculptures” and paintings with “talking textures” are the results of this overlap. Over the last decades, it became her mission to give everyday objects or found and collected items a new meaning and beauty. Re-purposing materials such as paper, plastic, and cartons, and collecting organic elements such as bark, sponges, mussels, and plant parts, give her endless choices for creations. Her goal is to make us aware of our daily surroundings and to encourage mindfulness in our wasteful and hectic days. The combination of these elements in her pieces, sparks conversation. This is how the dialogue opens. Sabine moved from Germany to the United States over twenty years ago and currently lives and works mainly in Houston, Texas. Traveling between the Rocky Mountains, the Caribbean Islands, and Europe gave her endless inspiration for her art.
