Kate Rivers was born in Youngstown, Ohio, has a BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design, and an MFA from The University of South Carolina. Her work is widely collected in both private and public collections. Images can be seen in print in the 2010 and 2012 West divisions of New American Paintings, and the 2019/2021 Trend Magazine. She was featured in Art on the Edge at the New Mexico Museum of Art, and one of five women in New Mexico nominated as Women to Watch, representing the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. Among her public collections is The Bataan Memorial Building in Santa Fe, University of New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College, Eastern New Mexico University, USAO in Oklahoma, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Virginia Hospital.After teaching at the collegiate level she left a tenured position in order to work as a full-time artist.
