“The reaction and acceptance to Amy's work in the Hagan Fine Art Gallery has been amazing. Our clients are completely mesmerized, drawn in, and ultimately fall in love with the beautiful spirit of these works and with Amy herself. Amy's work is sophisticated and filled with a sublime energy that is hard to describe—it just translates straight to the heart. I've never seen anything like it. Men love her paintings as well as women. The only way to understand this indefinable quality is to see her artworks in person.” —Karen Hewitt Hagan, owner of Hagan Fine Art Gallery Artist Bio & VideoBorn and raised in Louisiana, Amy Dixon is a nationally-acclaimed artist who lives in Colorado. She studied studio art and painting at the Newcomb College of Tulane University, and completed her post-graduate studies at Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy. Her work has twice been featured on the front cover of The Aspen Times, and has appeared in the February/March 2014 issue of Traditional Home magazine. Amy has authored two books published by Pelican Publishing Company entitled, The Cajun Night After Christmas and Whose Tripping Under My Bridge.Amy approaches painting much as she does her life—intuitively and with bold self-expression. Says Amy, “Anything is possible if the art spirit is right.” Direct observations of everyday life—and a keen sense of what will work on canvas—fuel her passion to explore subjects in abstract to abstracted representational styles. Amy translates her observations of color, form, mood, light, music, conversation, and dreams into vibrant, visual stories on canvas. Her expressive—often large-scale—compositions reveal a deep and diverse emotional immediacy to life’s joys and complexities. Peace, harmony, chaos, fears, stress, and laughter often guide her intuitive renderings. Going back to her Louisiana roots, Amy Dixon applies the familiar saying, laissez le bon temps roule to her artistic process (which means, “let the good times roll”). Extensive travels to foreign lands and cultures contribute to Amy’s never-ending courage to explore new ideas and concepts.
