Artist Elise Remender was born in 1977 in Phoenix, Arizona, and there she spent her years through high school. After high school she chose to attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. At the university, she spent her first few years specializing in illustrations for children’s literature, and her last years she concentrated on landscapes and portraiture. After graduation, she accepted a job with an art group in Phoenix, where she spent several years. There, she developed a unique style of abstract art that is both emotional and imaginative and has become a favorite with decorators and collectors. She also began painting landscapes and flowers, giving them life on her canvas. After a few years, she left Phoenix to move to the Pacific Northwest, where water and the elements of nature became a major influence..Elise continuously tries new approaches to her work, and as a result, it is continually evolving. Among her newest creations are mixed-media designs combining plexiglass, wood and metal. Inspired by the elements of nature and influenced by the vibrant colors of gemstones, these works are painted on plexiglass and framed with exotic hardwoods. Her most recent figurative works were inspired by the elegance and timeless beauty of mid-century beach culture. These scenes capture the enduring style and attitudes found in the fashions of the 1940s and 1950s. The stunning realism of mid-century fashion, colorful beach umbrellas and sparkling water are highlighted, while still incorporating a minimalistic feel.
