Skewed perspectives and repetition sum up the work of Emilio Villalba. The figures he depicts are shown blurry yet distinguishable, their faces distorted as though painted with a shaky hand. The features of each figure are set apart, more apparent and often repeated, juxtaposed against stark backgrounds which highlights them further. In looking through his body of work it becomes apparent that his interest and predilection for the figure has been present throughout, honing in and perfecting his skills. This notion is clear upon viewing his work, drawing the viewer in on pure sincerity.Emilio Villalba currently resides in California where he teaches at the Art Institute of Sacramento.
