Artist Statement "If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing." —Marc Chagall I paint responsively to music, mood, and movement, but I also paint with deliberateness and structure. My creative process is neither controlled nor haphazard. It is a constant flux of responsiveness and structure, chaos and harmony. Although memory, knowledge, and rationality may be in use when I am painting, courage is the catalyst. So, I paint with full expressive movements and carving back into the paint, over and over again until the painting conveys experience, presence, and expectation. “….there is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” -Leonard Cohen
